This is an exceptional quality sterling silver golf trophy produced by Meriden Britannia. Formed in 1852 in Meriden, Connecticut, as a manufacturing company focused on producing wares in britannia metal. It became, for a time, the largest silverware company in the world. A leading name in silver craftsmanship, this cup is a stunning example of the best of sterling silverwork. The trophy features beautiful thick curved arms with delicate lines and a graduated base.
Nice bright silver surface. The inscription is dated July 4, 1913 and includes presentation text on the front for a Country Club. Stamped "Sterling". The silver weight is 327.6 grams (11.53 oz) and measures approximately 8.5 inches high, 6.5 inches wide handle to handle at the top and 4.5 inches deep. Good condition, sharp inscription, dent to base, small mold imperfection at back of base, age-related light wear, small dents. A basic surface polish was just done to show off the silver, there are still some areas of tarnish that could be polished further.
